M-02 Residential HVAC
Heat pumps and home air conditioning, done properly
Heat pumps, ducted systems and home ventilation for Auckland homes. New installations, replacements of old units, and upgrades during renovations and extensions.

Options
The right system for your home
We'll explain the options that suit your house and budget, and recommend a brand and model with the reasons why.
High-wall heat pumps
The most common choice: one indoor unit for a room or open-plan living area. Good value and quick to install.
Multi-split systems
One outdoor unit running two or more indoor units, so there are fewer boxes on the outside of the house.
Ducted heat pumps
A hidden unit in the ceiling or under the floor, with discreet grilles in each room and zoning so you only heat the rooms you use.
Floor consoles and cassettes
For rooms where a wall unit won't fit, or would look out of place.
Home ventilation
Balanced or heat-recovery ventilation, plus bathroom and kitchen extraction, to tackle damp and condensation.
Controls and zoning
Timers, zone controls and Wi-Fi controllers, set up and explained before we leave.
Speciality Replacement & renovation
Replacing an old heat pump, or renovating?
- Repair or replace, honestly. If a repair makes sense, we'll say so. If the unit is old, uses a phased-out refrigerant or keeps failing, we'll show you the replacement options and what they cost.
- From several wall units to one ducted system. We check the ceiling or underfloor space, duct routes and access first, then plan the zones.
- Renovations and extensions. Talk to us before the linings go on. It's the cheapest time to run pipes, ducts, drains and power.
- Reuse what's sound. Existing pipe routes and outdoor unit positions can sometimes be reused after testing, which saves cost and patching.
- Quiet for you and the neighbours. Outdoor units placed and mounted to keep noise away from bedrooms and boundaries.

Neat on the outside too: pipework in covers, fixed to the cladding, and the outdoor unit sitting level and clear of the wall.
Sizing
Sized for the room, not guessed from the floor area
We work out the heating need room by room: size, ceiling height, insulation, glazing, which way it faces and how you use it.
An undersized heat pump runs flat out and still struggles on a cold morning. An oversized one costs more to buy and switches on and off too often. Getting it right is the difference between a system you like and one you put up with.
| Ref | Item | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 01 | Rooms and insulation | Sets the size of each unit |
| 02 | Outdoor unit position | Noise, airflow, access and looks |
| 03 | Pipe and drain routes | Tidy runs and no water where it shouldn't be |
| 04 | Switchboard and power | Whether a new circuit is needed |
| 05 | Ceiling or underfloor space | Whether ducted is practical |

Questions
Questions homeowners ask us
What size heat pump do I need?
It depends on the room, not just its floor area: ceiling height, insulation, windows, which way it faces and how warm you like it. We calculate it on the site visit and show you the numbers in the quote.
Should I repair or replace my old heat pump?
If it's fairly young and the fault is simple, repair it. If it's old, uses an older refrigerant, or the repair costs a large share of a new unit, replacing it usually makes more sense, because new units are also cheaper to run. We'll give you both prices.
Can I have a ducted system if my ceiling space is tight?
Often, yes. There are slim indoor units, and underfloor installation is sometimes possible. We check the space, access and duct routes before recommending it. If it won't work well, we'll suggest a multi-split instead.
Do you service heat pumps you didn't install?
Yes. We service and repair most brands, whoever installed them.
Where should the outdoor unit go?
Somewhere with good airflow and service access, close to the indoor unit, and away from bedroom windows and the boundary to keep noise down. We'll show you the options on the visit.
Tell us about your system
Send a few photos of the existing units and their nameplates. We'll tell you what's worth repairing, what's worth replacing, and what the alternatives are.
